By: Kelsey Larson THERE WERE TWO THEORIES!! 1) The U.S. and Soviet Union couldnt agree on what a new and improved Europe should be like. Disagreement and tension begins. 2) America was supposed to help the soviets, when no help came millions of Russians died. Spies were sent to steal Americas A bomb plan. CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS U.S. discovered missiles in Cuba from the Soviet Union, causing U.S. to be nervous for attack. LONG TERM CONSEQUENCES Countries were forced to pick sides, they had to decide weather the U.S. or soviet union was better. The entire world lived in fear of a nuclear attack for 50 years. People stopped living a normal life. N.A.T.O. & WARSAW PACT N.A.T.O. (North Atlantic treaty Organization) was an alliance among many nations to ensure safety against the communist powers. the pact that was created among nations to protect against democratic threats created in 1955. HOW WAS KOREA IMPACTED BY THE COLD WAR? Cold war caused north Korea and south Korea to be divided at the 38 th
parallel. U.S. got involved and is still involved today. HOW WAS VIETNAM IMPACTED BY THE COLD WAR? North Vietnam (communists) wanted to invade south (democracy). America pledges its forces to Vietnam.
HOW AFGHANISTAN WAS IMPACTED BY THE COLD WAR
The U.S. supported the Afghanistan rebels in order to try and overthrow the communists and prevent the spread of them.
WHAT IS DUCK AND COVER? Kids were taught that by using this method they would be safe from ANY nuclear bomb just by simply ducking down!
