breaking reality show that will
break all the rules. 12
bachelorettes. One bachelor, one
secret...and the first woman to
guess it wins one million dollars.
This is Beauty and the Beard!
EXT. A BACHELORETTE-ESQUE PATIO
JAMES (20's), the handsome, eligible bachelor stands before
twelve women.
JAMES
Hi, my name is James.
DONNA
Oh, he's gay.
HOST
What?
DONNA
That's the secret, right? He's
gay.
ASHLEY
Yeah. Totally. I didn't want to be
the one to say it.
The women nod in agreement.
HANNAH
Wait, no. That can't be the
secret. It's too obvious! Maybe
he's bi.
DONNA
Oh, honey, no.
JAMES
Uh...I wasn't expecting this.
ASHLEY
I mean, it's whatever. I'd still
totally date you, like, if you
weren't ready to come out before
sweeps week.
DONNA
We could still do the show. We
could just edit this out, act like
we don't know for a few weeks.

JAMES
How'd you...I didn't even...
ASHLEY
Don't worry about it.
HANNAH
Oh, come on! That's not the
secret, right?
She looks pleadingly at the host.
HOST
Excuse us for a second!
He takes James aside and they confer with each other, trying
to think of a last-minute solution.
HOST
No, that is not the secret! Uh,
normally, we'd eliminate any wrong
guesses, but seeing as we haven't
officially started yet, Donna, you
can stay on!
DONNA
OK. So we're guessing a secret
other than that he's gay?
HANNAH
They just said he isn't gay!
ASHLEY
No, they said he's gay, but that's
not the secret.
HOST
Alright. Forget it. Scrap the
footage.
CUT TO: BLACK SCREEN
ANNOUNCER

A different man stands in front of twelve different women.
DAVID
Hi, my name is David. I'm just a
normal guy trying to find love.
WOMAN #1
Gay! He's gay! That's it, right? I
won?
The host huffs, frustrated.
CUT TO: BLACK SCREEN
ANNOUNCER
Coming this summer: a ground-
breaking reality show that will
break all the rules. 12 sheltered,
rural bachelorettes. One bachelor,
one secret...and the first woman
to guess it wins one million
dollars. This...is Beauty and the
Beard.
EXT. A BACHELORETTE-ESQUE PATIO
THOMAS
Hi, I'm Thomas and I'll be your
bachelor.
The women are silent. Then:
EMILY
That's a gay person, right?
FADE OUT.
