Description of Specific Strategy


Briefly describe the specific strategy This chapter organizer helps with a multitude of things. It has spaces for the last chapter, current chapter and the next chapter to help make connections. This organizer also helps students organize the main points of the chapter. There is also a section for the students to put vocabulary words in. There is also a section for guiding questions that help the students figure out what the main idea is or what information is essential in the chapter.

Why did you choose this specific strategy? How does this strategy assist a student in understanding the content?

This is an incredible organizer to use at the beginning of a chapter. This organizer is an impressive way to outline the chapter and to prime the students for the chapter. This organizer also brings up past chapter to help the prior knowledge connections and this is a great tool for teachers to see how much information the student already know without doing a pretest. This organizer also work as a phenomenal tool for students that have mild learning disabilities, because it helps them figure out what information is relevant and what information isnt.

This organizer helps with putting main ideas in specific areas. Students with mild disabilities also have a hard time organizing and remembering information. This organizer organizes and helps with information recall. There also is a section in the organizer where students come up with guiding questions, and these questions promote metacognition. Meaning that the student has to think about what relevant questions to ask, and a question that most accurately expresses what is imperative in the chapter. Students who dont plan how they learn or dont have specific learning strategies, now have an organizer that allows they them to plan and organize their thoughts and information.
Students with mild disabilities have a hard time understanding and filtering important information.
