Exhibit- Career center EDD Benchmark- Personal Management Skills- P104 & P106 During my junior year of career center we were presented with a project to solve a problem. We had to solve that problem with customer surveys, and finalize it with a prototype. To do this on time so I and my partner Ty Schiller made time charts, and a decision matrix. This helped us utilize our time efficiently. First, we had to find a problem to solve; when we found the problem we wanted to solve we started making our surveys. The problem we were trying to solve is how to make a portable back support. After we did some research with surveys and Google patents, we decided the back support had to be for the lumbar. Now that we defined out problem we started to design the product. The cushion of the back the support and how to make it portable were out main issues. We made a gantt chart to help us make our decisions. When we were looking at how to make the object portable, the cushion which would be weatherized was worst. Although we had our time charts and design matrix we never prototyped the final design, but we came up with the design that left half of the support in the tree and the other half came off. Even though we never prototyped it, we still did all of the customers wants and had a design for a good product. In my future career and in life this will become a handy thing

to know, using a decision matrix can help me spend money efficiently, and make decisions on time. And also prototyping is now my job so the project now directly relates with the job Im doing. I enjoy prototyping because I have realized that I do not like doing the same thing every day, and Im more effective not. In my future career I will also use gantt charts and decision matrix to help the company choose the most effective way to manufacture a part. Also I will have to be creative to get new innovative ideas that will help me grow in the career field.
