Report Ohms Law

1. The experiment investigates Ohm's Law by measuring the current (I) and potential difference (V) in a circuit with a constantan wire of fixed length. 2. As the current was increased incrementally using a rheostat, the corresponding voltage measurements were recorded. 3. A graph of V vs I showed a straight line relationship, indicating direct proportionality between current and potential difference. This supported the hypothesis and validated Ohm's Law for the circuit.

Procedure: 1. A circuit as shown in the diagram is set up. 2. A constantan wire of 50.0 cm length is connected across terminals and !. 3. The switch is pressed and the rheostat is adjusted until the ammeter reading, I, is 0.1 A. 4. The voltage across the constantan wire, V is measured using the voltmeter. 5. The rheostat is adjusted to increase the value of current I and the corresponding voltmeter reading, V is recorded. . The values of I and V are ta!ulated and a graph of V against I is plotted.

Conclusion: The potential difference is directl& proportional to the current in an ohmic conductor. The h&pothesis is accepted. Precaution: Avoid paralla$ error by placing the eye such that the line of "ie# is perpendicular to the scale reading. '( 'ff the switch after readings are ta)en to prevent wire from over heating.
