Lesson Plan Format Week 1

Name: Derek Jackson Date: Jan. 13 Course: Spanish I Class Period: 1, 4-7 Lesson Plan #: 1 Unit Plan Title: La Ropa Title of Lesson: El vocabulario #1 Length of Instruction: 50 mins. Benchmarks/Content Standards: 1.1.N.SL.i - Ask for and obtain information in everyday situations in the target language about time, place, price, size, relating to restaurants, stores, transportation, and services 1.1.N.a - Reinforce previously learned content knowledge through the target language Objectives: *Understand clothing vocabulary and its use in everyday life. Instructional Activities: Introduction: Poner(se) Students will complete a verb chart and example sentences. Primary Activity: 1. I will use a Prezi to introduce Clothing Vocabulary to the students. I will say the word, we will say it together, and then they will say it alone in a choral activity. They will be encouraged to take notes on the vocabulary. 2. After the vocabulary is introduced, students will practice writing sentences. They will range from I like shoes, or I buy clothes at American Eagle. We will do 3 sample sentences together. 3. Students will use the remaining time in class to complete their homework assignment. Closing: As an exit slip, I will have students tell me where they buy their clothes. Yo compro mi ropa en __________________________

Extended Practice/Homework: Create 7 additional sentences to the examples for a total of 10 sentences that discuss clothing.

Benchmarks/Content Standards: 1.1.N.SL.i - Ask for and obtain information in everyday situations in the target language about time, place, price, size, relating to restaurants, stores, transportation, and services 1.1.N.a - Reinforce previously learned content knowledge through the target language Objectives: *Add to previously acquired clothing vocabulary. Formulate sentences about shopping. Instructional Activities: Introduction: Costar Students will complete a verb chart and example sentences. Primary Activity: 1. We will spend a few minutes reviewing the vocabulary from the day before as well as discuss the homework. Students will get into groups to create a list of words that they remember. 2. I will use a Prezi to introduce Clothing Vocabulary #2 to the students. I will say the word, we will say it together, and then they will say it alone in a choral activity. They will be encouraged to take notes on the vocabulary. 3. After the vocabulary is introduced, students will practice writing sentences. 4. Students will receive a review guide that features exercises to practice vocabulary. Closing: With a partner, students will practice a short conversation modeled in the Prezi. Extended Practice/Homework: Study Guide- Practices A (1-2 ) and C.

Benchmarks/Content Standards: 1.1.N.SL.i - Ask for and obtain information in everyday situations in the target language about time, place, price, size, relating to restaurants, stores, transportation, and services Objectives: *Students will receive the final vocabulary words for clothing items for the unit. They will practice applying these words in a real world context. Instructional Activities: Introduction: Estudiar Students will create a verb chart as well as example sentences. Primary Activity: 1. Review homework. 2. Review all clothing vocabulary. 3. Introduce the new vocabulary for gifting. 4. Students can create a study sheet for their quiz if time permits. 5. If time left at the end of class, students may read silently or study for their quiz. Closing: Students will copy then complete the chart on page 387 #3

Extended Practice/Homework: Finish the chart.

Benchmarks/Content Standards: 1.1.N.SL.i - Ask for and obtain information in everyday situations in the target language about time, place, price, size, relating to restaurants, stores, transportation, and services Objectives: *Demonstrate understanding of the vocabulary in an applicable setting. Instructional Activities: Introduction: Preferir Students will create a verb chart as well as example sentences. Primary Activity: 1. Students will have 5 minutes to prepare for the Vocabulary Quiz. 2. Students will take a quiz. (20 mins) 3. I will review the colors with students after the quiz using a PowerPoint presentation. Then, we will explore the Prefiero ___________________ Spanish construction. Closing: Students will tell me what kind of clothing they prefer.

Extended Practice/Homework: Que prefiere(s) ser los colores de su ropa? 10 sentences total.

Benchmarks/Content Standards: 1.1.N.SL.i - Ask for and obtain information in everyday situations in the target language about time, place, price, size, relating to restaurants, stores, transportation, and services Objectives: *Add to vocabulary and learn new phrases about clothing. Demonstrate ability to ask questions and respond in relation to clothing and stores. Instructional Activities: Introduction: Pagar Students will create a verb chart as well as example sentences. Primary Activity: 1. I will review the quiz with students and answer any questions that they may have. 2. We will review the homework of preferred clothing. 3. I will introduce the new vocabulary for Accessories and Winter clothing. 4. Students will complete the packet. Closing: Students will write a paragraph on what types of clothing are needed for skiing.

Extended Practice/Homework: Finish the paragraph. (5 sentences minimum.)
