Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact Rationale/Reflection NAEYC Standard: STANDARD 4.

USING DEVELOPMENTALLY EFFECTIVE APPROACHES Candidates prepared in early childhood degree programs understand that teaching and learning with young children is a complex enterprise, and its details vary depending on childrens ages, characteristics, and the settings within which teaching and learning occur. They understand and use positive relationships and supportive interactions as the foundation for their work with young children and families. Candidates know, understand, and use a wide array of developmentally appropriate approaches, instructional strategies, and tools to connect with children and families and positively influence each childs development and learning. (NA !C, "#$$% Brief Description of Evidence: & discovered with the handmade activities & did for the 'ultiple intelligence pro(ect we had to complete in C ) "*+. The children like to do different things and with handmade items you do not have to spend as much to have a variety of developmentally appropriate activities. &t is also easier to make item that will meet the NA !C standards. & can have the children separate ,unnies and place one in each hole of the ice cu,e tray and it work on sorting and fine motors skills with one activity. Analysis of What I earned: Through completion of these handmade activities it made me excited to think outside the ,ox to help me to meet the instructional strategies and tools to connect with the children and share with the family . unit plan framework & was a,le to use positive interaction and social skills to work colla,oratively with a small group of peers. & now know the importance of early childhood activities do not have to ,e complex or expensive to teach and learning of young children even though it is a complex enterprise . !o" #his Artifact De$onstrates $y Co$petence on the NAEYC Standard: & had to develop the handmade activities and then use them with the children in my childcare facility. The activities also had a lesson plan adapted to each child learning capacity. & feel that the activities & made & will ,e a,le to use for years to come and with different age groups with little to no manipulation.
