(NAEYC, 2010)

Brief Description of Evidence:

Attending to my ECED 243 Cognitive Curriculum course during the semester of fall 2013, I developed a Reggio inspired invitation functioning through the concept of bringing nature into the classroom. This invitation was created to support the diverse learners in the classroom and their surrounding environments. Upon implementation, I supported the childrens learning while allowing exploration and imagination. Following completion of the activities, I created a documentation panel in which was used to inform families of the basis of the Reggio Invitation.

Analysis of What I Learned:

As a result of completing this project, I learned how to gather the resources needed in a cost effective manner to create a developmentally appropriate learning environment for the children in the classroom. I learned how to incorporate multiple foundations into my lesson plans. I also learned how to effectively inform families of the happenings in the classroom.

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the NAEYC Standard:

As I incorporated many diverse learning opportunities into my invitation, I have shown an ability to teach to the different learning styles in the classroom. I have shown my ability to support the childrens learning through supportive questioning, visual resources, and corresponding manipulatives in which developed a firm foundation for critical thinking and cognitive reasoning. I have shown my ability to connect the childrens multiple learning environments into my classroom. I have also presented my competence in the importance of connecting with the families of the children in my classroom.
