Specifying learning
objectives-being clear about learning objectives, it should be for students to understand an organized body of knowledge Preparing study guides-for students to become experts study guides should be created (info. Coming from internet and textbooks Forming student teamsteams should include diversity if possible Supplementing expert presentations- students will not be able to teach their peers as well as you (fill in the gaps)

Assigning student experts- you can assign students to topics or let them pick Information gathering-student experts study their topic as much as possible (study guide) Expert meeting-highly structured, involves teachers input and guided notes (fill in gaps) Peer instruction- experts take turns teaching their group their topic (structured, allot time for each topic) provide guided notes Review and Closure- again fill in gaps using guided notes

Teachers also need to be sure the groups are being successful (walking around the room, again filling in the gaps) Assessment is done by informing the students they will be held accountable for the information that they have learned (Quiz, test, review discussion, etc.) The review discussion will be able to reveal if the knowledge of the content was learned

Motivation is very similar in the sense that the students will be accounted for the information they have learned. They must become experts in order to teach someone else and sense they will be the only one teaching their group of their specific topic, this is a form of motivation Quizzes or test can also be motivation to ensure the students efforts (good grades)

So what? What is important to understand about this?

This is a model that allows the students to interact and teach one another but also reveals the importance of the teachers role along the way as well as the effort and involvement the teacher must have for this learning strategy to be a success.
