To whom it may concern: I am a University Supervisor for James Madison University and have had the pleasure of working with Danielle Castillo during her student teaching for the fall 2013 semester. Her placement was in a fourth grade classroom. Ms. Castillo made an easy transition from university student to student teacher. Her lesson plans were always well thought out and took into account her students' background, knowledge, and skills. The learning experiences were varied and she incorporated a wide range of activities to support her students' learning styles. The use of technology was also a part of her everyday lessons. Appropriate assessments, both formal and informal, were used to check students' understanding. As for instructional performance, Ms. Castillo possessed a positive attitude and an engaging sense of humor. Her classroom was a happy place where learning happened while students had fun. She was able to maintain momentum and minimize delays in the classroom. Her time management was very good. Behavior management techniques were fair and consistent. Ms. Castillo was able to describe her strengths and weaknesses and was open to constructive feedback. At all times, she demonstrated a strong sense of professionalism. I do not hesitate to recommend Ms. Castillo for employment. She will be an asset to any school faculty that hires her. Please feel free to contact me if further information is needed. Sincerely, Karen A. Kahl 540-5 60-000 5
