Hypo decay & NaClO3 (sodium chlorate) formation: Depends on pH, temperature, initial concentration, and light intensity In 15% hypo, 0.6% of available Cl2 will convert to chlorate in first 24 hours after production. In 15% hypo, chlorate levels increase by over 300% after 60 days.
In 0.8% hypo the conversion to chlorate is not detectable in the first 24 hours.
OSEC hypo is prepared & consumed with 24 hours.
WHO recommended limit for Chlorate is 0.7 mg/litre

OPERATION:
Supply water is softened and combined with the saturated brine solution to form a precise 3% brine solution which enters the electrolyzer.
The solution supports an electric current applied in the electrolyzer.
Chlorine gas is produced at the anode; sodium hydroxide and hydrogen gas at the cathode.
Chlorine gas further reacts with the hydroxide to form 0.8% sodium hypochlorite and is carried to the product tank.
Hydrogen gas is carried through the electrolyzer to the product tank where it is diluted and discharged to atmosphere.
