VEHICLE DYNAMICS suspension steering braking

Softwares used : MS Excel, Matlab, Solidworks, Msc Adams Car

SUSPENSION
Any novice would link suspension with cushiony ride but in our terms it is much concerned on load transfer rather than comfort.

What we do

Constraint motion of chassis or Centre of mass studied to determine weight transfer while on a bump or cornering As it is not a rigid axle suspension, the calculation would not be as easy, so we made our own excel programs (just check out what kind suspension we have)

Students interested in suspension should know about RC P.S. Im not revealing its full form, just take it as a prerequisite

Then next comes springs and dampers, going through series of iteration in matlab or excel To get the desired values, these iterations are done on the basis of ride rates and spring rates, surprisingly it controls the front to rear weight transfer. Wait this was for only front view <picture> In side view, <picture> You control the front to rare weight transfer at time of throttle and vice versa for braking.

STEERING
Commoners do link their steering system with steering wheel and linkages,but fail to think about tires;which is the actual purpose of steering systems

What we do
Extensive Work on matlab to get info on Camber, Caster and KPI requirement on tire suitable for our car.
