Vtec (VVT-i (: Working Principle

The document discusses two valve train systems - VTEC from 1983 and VVT-i from 1996. VTEC varies both the timing and lift of the intake camshaft between 25-50 degrees when the engine is running. VVT-i varies only the timing of the intake valves by adjusting the relationship between the camshaft drive and intake camshaft using engine oil pressure on an actuator. It provides improved engine efficiency by adjusting the overlap time between exhaust valve closing and intake valve opening.

VTEC (1983)

valve train system to improve the principle volumetric efficiency of a 4-stroke internal combustion engine. It not only varies the timing but also lift the valves. Intake The intake camshaft is capable of camshaft advancing between 25 and 50 degrees when the engine is running.
Working

VVT-i (1996)
It varies the timing of the intake valves by adjusting the relationship between the camshaft drive and intake camshaft. Does not lift the valves. The timing of the intake valves varies by adjusting the relationship between the camshaft drive and intake camshaft Engine oil pressure is applied to an actuator Adjustments in the overlap time between the exhaust valve closing and intake valve opening results in improved engine efficiency.

By a computer controlled, oil driven changings adjustable cam gear Perfomance By a combination of engine load and rpm, ranging from fully retarded at idle to somewhat advanced at full throttle and low RPM
