Making A Line Graph

The document discusses line graphs and how to make them. It explains that line graphs illustrate the relationship between two variables, with the independent variable on the x-axis and dependent variable on the y-axis. An example is given showing the number of tornadoes in the US each year from 1950-1999. The document also mentions an experiment measuring the effect of increasing coils on the number of paperclips picked up by an electromagnet.

Line Graphs
Line graphs illustrate the relationship between two major variables. The independent
variable is charted on the horizontal axis, while the dependent is plotted along the
vertical axis. Here’s an example below using tornado data:
Yearly Instances of Tornadoes in the US, 1950-1999

The independent variable is the year. It changes no matter what happens to tornadoes.

The dependent variable is the total number of tornadoes. It changes depending on the year.
