Cognitive Process of Experts and Expert Systems

Experts have both factual and heuristic knowledge that allows them to solve complex problems in their domain. Knowledge engineers work with domain experts to capture their knowledge and represent it in a rule-based expert system. The system uses IF-THEN rules and factual and heuristic knowledge bases to provide automated solutions to problems in that domain, similar to how a human expert would solve them.
