Key benefits of Stoner Pipeline Simulator (SPS)

Simulate transient flow transmission systems Manage pipeline scenarios Analyse hydraulic challenges Model your entire control system Technical support team available 24/7

Interactive model building

SPS Model Builder allows you to drag and drop model elements from the toolbar to the workspace, defining connectivity between elements. Interactive simulations provide a full-featured view of pipeline and equipment operation. Monitor trends of inventory change by segment on time plots Observe hydraulic surges, batch movement or composition profiles on distance plots Examine individual equipment performance through show screens Combine equipment properties into reports

Powerful transient flow simulation

A Drag, drop, connect and edit devices with Model Builder B Monitor slack line flow in a batched liquid pipeline

Superior pipeline design and performance analysis

Internationally recognised asan industry leader in pipeline analysis, SPSis used by engineering, planning and operations divisions to facilitatepipeline design and performance. The software can be used to eliminateoperational problems for networks transporting natural gas, dense phase gas or (batched) liquid hydrocarbons. This comprehensive tool analyses hydraulic challenges such as: Simple throughput assessment Survival time analysis Complex behavior of highly viscous, non-Newtonian crude oils Detailed thermal studies involving heat exchange across multiple layers Slack line flow phenomena

The SPS offline and real time solutions

SPSprovides arange of compatible simulation solutions from the planning desktop to operator training and qualification, to real timesystems including leak detection and predictive simulation. Combine the hydraulic capabilities of SPS with its advanced control system features and the embedded application development language (ADL) for solution-driven hydraulic and operational analysis tools.

Operational interface
In addition to the engineering facility offered by the SPS native interface, all SPS applications can be viewed viaan operationalinterface. This interface is a flexible, fully configurable, Control Room or desktop GUI with the following functionality: Fully interactive graphical screens Access control and security logging features Fully web-enabled thin client interface Trending of measured and calculated data Graphical profile views of pipeline properties Alarms and event management Reporting, data export to other applications such as Excel Trainer The operator qualification and trainer functionality of SPS helps to ensure that your team members are fully trained to recognise and respond effectively to abnormal pipeline behaviours or emergency situations. Solutions are delivered in a highly realistic simulation environment or run directly from clients own SCADA data. Much like a flight simulator used to train airline pilots, operators learn thefeel oftheir pipelines operation, recognise the signatures of emerging problems, and learn toreturn the pipeline to safe operation, preventing a pipeline accident.

A complete range of compatible simulation solutions

Pipeline modeling with SPS SPSs excellent hydraulic design capability is critical to achieving optimal return on a pipeline asset. SPS provides the benchmark in transient flow simulation of transmission systems. Leakfinder The Leakfinder toolprovides pipeline surveillance to rapidly detect potentially costly releases. Our state estimation technology maintains constant vigilance over pipelines, calculating the pipeline state even when poor or missing telemetry data have compromised the SCADA system. The toolcontinually analyses the calculated state, searching for anomalies that suggest a leak. Using two different leak detection techniques concurrently, the softwareprovides truly effective leak detection.

SPS handles any combination of scenarios including control system analysis, equipment performance analysis or pressure flow capacity analysis with user-defined levels of complexity. The software can simulate all of your existing equipment, including pipes, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors and station yard piping, regulators, valves, headers and heat exchangers, exactly as it is configured in the field. SPS can model your entire control system, sensors, PID controllers, relays and actuators. You can use the SPS idealised controls for more simplified simulations. SPS can model compressors simply, or in complete detail. For centrifugal compressors, you can enter your performance data at a single speed, and SPS will apply fan laws to complete the performance map. SPS allows you to specify the entire performance curve for the compressor and/or turbine driver, or simulate variable guide-vane compressors. For reciprocating compressors, you can use either simplified units or detailed compressors that consider pocket displacement and clearance ratios.

Predictor In the realm of natural gas transmission, the Predictor functionality helps togive you confidence in your business plan by testing that plan in advance of actual operations. Not only can your gas controllers check for alarms in advance, they can test many what-if scenarios to increase efficiency or push the envelope of capacity during projected high demand periods. By using the tool, you can confirm nominations with confidence.

Statefinder

Dynamic updates
During simulation, control system tuning and/or equipment operation, all displays are updated dynamically as the hydraulic response is drawn on the screen. Following simulation, you can use the tools provided to display results as plots or tables for inclusion in reports.

The Statefinder functionality provides a real-time, continuous simulation of actual pipeline operations. This mathematical simulation, running in parallel to a real pipeline, is driven by SCADA measurements. Using proprietary state-estimation technology, the software delivers a more comprehensive and reliable view of the pipelines operation than is available from SCADA.
