Assignment I - SA1

This document contains an assignment for a structural analysis course given to a civil engineering student at Symbiosis Institute of Technology. The assignment asks the student to define bending moment, shear force, bending moment diagram, and shear force diagram. It also asks the student to explain beam formulas and draw shear force diagrams and bending moment diagrams for 12 different beam conditions, including simple beams, cantilever beams, fixed-end beams, and continuous beams with various load types.

Assignment I
Q.1 Define the Bending Moment. Q.2 Define the Shear force. Q.3 Define the Bending Moment Diagram. Q.4 Define the Shear Force Diagram. Q.5 Explain all beam formulas with shear and bending moment diagram. Explain it for the following beam conditions: reaction at end supports, maximum bending moment & bending moment at any section of beam. Draw SFD & BMD for each beam. 1. Simple beam: - with UDL, UVL, concentrated load at the center, concentrated load at any point. 2. Cantilever beam: - with UDL, concentrated load at free end, concentrated load at any point. 3. Beam fixed at one end and supported at other end: - with UDL 4. Beam fixed at one end and supported at other end: - with concentrated load at the center 5. Beam fixed at one end and supported at other end: - with concentrated load at any point. 6. Beam fixed at both ends: with UDL. 7. Beam fixed at both ends: with concentrated load at the center. 8. Beam fixed at both ends: with concentrated load at any point. 9. Continuous beam two equal spans: with UDL on one span. 10. Continuous beam two equal spans: with concentrated load at the center of any one span. 11. Continuous beam two equal spans: with concentrated load at any point. 12. Continuous beam two unequal spans: with concentrated load on each span symmetrically placed.
