Exercise 5

This document provides a 5-step process for solving fluid flow problems: 1) Guess an initial velocity field, 2) Calculate momentum equation coefficients to determine pseudo-velocities, 3) Calculate pressure field coefficients and solve for pressure, 4) Solve momentum equations using pressure field to obtain updated velocities, 5) Calculate mass source from pressure/velocity imbalance and solve pressure correction equation.

Exercise 5

1. Start with the guessed velocity field 2. Calculate the coefficients of the momentum equation and hence calculate pseudo-velocities from the equation by substituting the values of the neighbor velocities u b u,v,wnb. 3. Calculate the coefficients for the pressure equation and solve it to obtain the pressure field. 4. Treating this pressure field as p*, solve the momentum equations to obtain u*,v*,w*. 5. Calculate the mass source b arising from imbalance of pressure and velocity fields and hence solve the p' equation
