1.0 INTRODUCTION Welcome to the TOC DISK User Guide. This document will explain how to use the features of the TOC DISK. 2.0 AUTO-RUN When you insert the TOC DISK most systems will run it automatically and you will see the main interface screen as shown below. If auto-run does not work or your system has it disabled then you can manually open the program by browsing the disk and double clicking on the AutorunPro.EXE to launch the TOC DISK. A interface screen will appear similar to the example below.

3.0 INTRODUCTION TO THE MAIN MENU The Main Menu is designed to mimic a webpage. Areas of the TOC DISK are accessible by clicking on various links. Each item is a link to a specific function. For example, clicking on the link that says Adobe Reader will open the Adobe website, allowing you to download the latest version of Adobe Reader. The Main Menu link will bring you back to the DVD User Guide Main Menu. Clicking on User Guide will bring up the document you are now reading.

4.0 4.1 ADVANCED FEATURES Printer Friendly TOC This opens up the Printer Friendly TOC document formatted for printing and can be searched as it contains a list of all TOCs, Documents and Titles on the disk.

4.2 Directory

Clicking on Directory will take you to a Windows Explorer window with all of the documents contained on the disk, organized in folder(s), as shown below.

This allows you to see all of the individual document files contained in the various TOC listings. You can also copy files from the disk or browse and open any documents directly in their native program.

Table of Contents Links

In the upper left corner are the links to each table of contents. Clicking on one of them will take you to a listing of each separate table of contents contained on the disk, as seen below.

4.4 Expand/Collapse Clicking the titles will take you directly to a table of contents, as seen below. For example, clicking on Package1 will open that particular table of contents for browsing.

Each TOC section can be expanded individually by clicking the Plus Sign (+) in front of the title or the entire TOC by clicking the Expand link at the top of the page.

An example of clicking on the Expand + link at the top of the window. Clicking on Collapse - will reduce the window and hide the documents again.

4.5 TOC Search The Search feature allows you to search by document Title or Number that appears in the currently open TOC. Type in your search term and then click on the Search Button, this will expand the entire current TOC so that you can view the result of the first occurrence found of your search term. If you wish to find the next occurrence just click on Search Button again. Hitting the ENTER key on your keyboard will not activate the search due to the programs restrictions. This search feature does not search for words within a document, see Document Search section below for instructions on how to do more advanced document searches.

If you want to search all TOCs on the disk for a particular document number or document title you can open the Printer Friendly TOC document as it contains a list of all TOCs, Documents and Titles on the disk.

4.6 Document Search To search for a word or phrase within the PDF documents, you will use the Adobe Search feature. Open the Adobe Reader already installed on your computer, click on EDIT and then SEARCH.

Basic Search Options:

Type the word or phrase you are looking for. Select All PDF Documents in Select the drive with the TOC DISK. Select any additional basic options to your search. (These are explained in the Advanced Search Options section) When you complete all options click SEARCH.

Type the word or phrase you are looking for. Choose to match Exact, Any, All or Boolean. (See Notes) Select the drive with the TOC DISK. Select any additional advanced criteria options to add to your search. (See Notes) When you complete all options click SEARCH.

Changes this window into the Basic Search Options window. Takes you to the FIND box to search ONLY the currently open PDF document. Notes: Return Results Containing: Match Exact word or phrase searches exactly and in order, including spaces, what keywords you typed in the search field. Match Any of the words searches for any one of the keywords you typed in the search field. Match All of the words searches, in any order, if all the keywords you typed in the search field appear in a PDF document. Boolean query searches using Boolean operators (AND, NOT, OR, ^ and parentheses to specify the order) typed in with your search keywords. Use these additional criteria: This allows you to specify very specific search options based on various document properties and allows you to specify if that criteria is contained or not contained in documents. If the criteria is a date then you can specify Is exactly, Is before, Is After or Is not

Use these additional criteria: Whole words only limits your search to matching each whole keyword. Case-Sensitive turns on case sensitivity based on your keywords.

Proximity searches for two or more words separated by no more than a specified number of words set in Adobe search preferences. (Available only when Match all of the words is selected under Return results containing. Stemming searches for words that contain part (the stem) of keywords you typed in the search field. For example folded would find instances of fold, folds and folding. Include Bookmarks searches the text of any bookmarks in the PDF. Include Comments searches the text of any comments added to the PDF. Include Attachments searches PDFs that are attached to the current PDF or other attached PDFs up to two levels deep. Search Results: The search will return all uses of the word or phrase within the various documents within the TOC DISK. The search can take a long time depending on how many documents it must search in. At any time during the search you can click the STOP button to stop the search and display anything it has found up to this point. Shows your search Terms you specified. Number of documents found and instances of your terms. Start a NEW Search Results of your search listed by document. Clicking on PLUS sign next to a document will show you results for that document. Clicking on an item under the document will OPEN the document and jump to that location and highlight the search term there. You can change the Sort By option to sort on Relevance, Date Modified, Filename or Location. Clicking Refine Search Results will allow you to do a second search on just the currently shown results.

5.0 TROUBLESHOOTING To open the TOC DISK it is usually only necessary to put the disk in your optical drive as your computer should start the disk up automatically. Note: That most TOC Disks will be a DVD so you must have an optical drive that can read DVD disks. However, if the auto-run feature does not work you can open the program by double clicking on the Computer or My Computer Icon then open the appropriate optical drive and then double click on the AutorunPro.EXE icon.

If the program opens but Adobe Reader will not open documents from the links or stops working, first try rebooting your computer. If this does not solve the problem you may need to reinstall Adobe Reader from their website at www.adobe.com. The first time you run the disk or open a document on the disk, you might get a Windows Security message concerning Active Content. If so, just check In the future, do not show this message and click OK. Check the box and click Yes.
