Asthma
Definition: Asthma is a respiratory condition marked by spasms in the bronchi of the lungs, causing difficulty in breathing. It usually results from an allergic or other forms of hypersensitivity.

What does an asthma attack feel like?


Severe wheezing when breathing both in and out. Coughing that wont stop Very rapid breathing Chest pain or pressure Tightened neck and chest muscles, called retractions Difficulty taking Feelings of anxiety or panic Pale, sweaty face Blue lips or fingernails Or worsening symptoms despite use of your medications.

What causes an asthma attack?


Common asthma attack triggers include: -pollen, pets, mold and dust mites -upper respiratory infections -tobacco smoke An asthma attack can happen when you are exposed to asthma triggers. Those can be very different from those of someone else with asthma.

Treatments for asthma


Treatment for asthma requires several steps: Monitoring daily asthma symptoms and need for rescue medication in an asthma diary. Avoiding asthma triggers. Taking medications daily that control inflammation and prevent chronic symptoms. Ready availability of drugs to treat asthma attacks when they occur, such as albuterol.
