UMTS Time Slots, Channel Coding

The document discusses the time slot configuration for UMTS Dedicated Physical Channels (DPCH), which allocates downlink and uplink time slots. It describes that a DPCH time slot contains Transmit Power Control bits, Feedback Information for closed-loop transmission diversity, Transport Format Combination Indicator for data rates, and constant Pilot bits for channel synchronization. The document also provides an example channel coding and multiplexing for DTCH and DCCH channels in UMTS and an example channel coding for a 64 kbps uplink channel.

UMTS Time Slots

UMTS has several different time slot configuration depending on the used channel. Here is an example of DPCH (Dedicated Physical Channel) downlink and uplink time slot allocation.

TCP stands for Transmit Power Control, Feedback Information (FBI) is used for closed loop transmission diversity. Transport Format Combination Indicator (TFCI) contains the information relating to data rates. Pilot bits are always the same and are used for channel synchronisation.
