Information technology refers to creating, gathering, processing, storing, and delivering information using both hardware and software. IT can be used for information processing, communications, and problem solving tasks. An information system can be viewed as a work system where all activities are devoted to digital processing. There are two main types of software: system software which has direct control of hardware, and application software which performs specific tasks and has indirect access to hardware. IT is widely used in business, industry, design, manufacturing, homes, education and training, and science and engineering.

Introduction:
Information technology can be used for information processing,communications and problem solving tasks.

Definition of IT:
IT refers to creating, gathering, processing,storage and delivery of information.

Uses of IT: process raw data into useful information. recycle pricessed information and use it as data in another processing step. pack information in a new form so it''s easier to understand,more attractive and more useful. in the broadest sense,IT refers to both hardware and software that are used to store,retrieve and manipulate information,

Informtion Systems:
An information system can be viewed as a work system where all activities are devoted to different types of digital processing

Types of Software:
System software: System software has direct controland access to your computer hardwareand memory locations. eg:MS windows,Linux,Unix Application software: Application software runs under System software,and are made to do a specific task i.e. [word processing etc.],which have indirect access to hardware. eg:MS Word,MS Excel,MySQL etc.

Business. Industry. Design. Manuf.acturing. Home. Education and Training. Science and Engineering.
