BIM Assignment Using Revit
ii. Comment: 8 slab rebar iii. Spacing: (no information is given) 3c. Task 2 2a. 2b. i. Grand total of concrete needed: 232.07 CY i. Foundation Slab, 8 slab, Apparatus Room: 71.87 CY ii. Foundation Slab, 8 slab, Aprons: 5.85 + 5.95 = 11.80 CY 3b. Grand total for slab edge: 111.91 CF 4.14 CY The slab on grade and apron are shown specifically in the BIM model, under building section A-A
From the BIM model it is evident that it does have its limitations to what it can actually do. With regards to the Slab Edge example, the first issue is the fact that since Revit does not include the thickened edges in its quantity takeoff, the grand total of required concrete is approximately 4.14 CY short of the actual required quantity. Furthermore, for some reason, all concrete quantities under Concrete Slab and Footing are listed in cubic yards yet under the Slab Edge the quantities are in cubic foot. So not only is the extra concrete not included in the takeoff but it isnt even presented in the same units. Obviously, there are some improvements to be made in the softwares ability to except more variety in its inputs but also to keep consistent units in its quantities.
