Mechanical Measurement ME 302 Assignment (3) : Presentation of Results Question (1) Calibration Curve For Orifice Meter

The document provides instructions for three assignment questions. Question 1 involves calibrating an orifice meter, calculating volume flow rate and pressure drop, plotting graphs of pressure vs flow rate and sensitivity vs flow rate. Question 2 involves plotting given experimental data in log-log, semi-log, linear, and ln-ln graphs. Question 3 involves transferring calibration data to a power law relation to find constants b and n, and plotting sensitivity vs the input values.

MECHANICAL MEASUREMENT

ME 302
ASSIGNMENT (3)
PRESENTATION OF RESULTS
QUESTION (1)
Calibration Curve for Orifice Meter.
Given that the calibration constant C=0.85
Take internal diameter of the pipe = 0.8m
Take velocity V as given in TABLE (1) .
Find the volume flow rate using Q= A*V, where A is the cross section area of the pipe. Take the
density of water corresponding to room temperature of 200C.

Q 2
Use the relation
P * (
) to calculate P for various values of Q.
2 C*A
Plot the graph P and Q.
Find the static sensitivity at various flow rates from the graph and the equation.
Plot K vs Q
