Fixed Beams

Fixed beams have zero slope at their ends due to fixed end moments (FEM). There are several methods to analyze fixed beams including the method of consistent deformation. This method involves treating the FEMs as redundant forces that ensure the boundary conditions of zero slope and deflection at the beam ends are satisfied. Standard cases for prismatic fixed beams provide equations to directly calculate the FEMs based on the beam's geometry and applied loads. An example calculation demonstrates applying the method of consistent deformation and conjugate beam method to solve for the FEMs of a simply supported beam with a central point load.
