Backup Types

Full backups store all files selected for backup and have the slowest backup time but fastest restore time and highest storage space. Incremental backups store only changed files since the last full, differential, or incremental and have the fastest backup time but slowest restore time and lowest storage space. Differential backups store changed files since the last full backup and have moderate backup time and storage space with fast restore time. Synthetic full backups merge incremental backups into a new full backup and have slow backup time and high storage space but fast restore time.
