JeLisa Ashby observed a lesson on Westward Expansion where the teacher used interactive notes on a smart board. JeLisa illustrated a chart on literary devices for the classroom. During a read aloud, JeLisa stopped to ask questions and discuss pictures. JeLisa also observed an art resource class where most students enjoyed art but some saw it as play time, though they were excited about the winter critters project.

Field Experience Activity Log

Date
10/8/2013 Description of Visit I observed the lesson on Westward Expansion. Ms. Berry had interactive notes on her smart board to conduct the lesson. Questions were asked throughout by both the teacher and students. Today Ms. Berry had me illustrate a chart on literary devices. The class had already covered this material but she felt that her classroom walls were lacking proper content display. Today I read Boss of the Plains as a closure and recap to the Westward Expansion lesson. Reflection I like the way this lesson was conducted. There were minimal disruptive issues, but overall an ideal lesson. I enjoyed making the chart for Ms. Berry. She just told me what content needed to be on the chart but I had free reign on creativity. The class was very interested when I was reading. I stopped throughout, but not too often to ask questions and interpretation of pictures. I love read alouds. I wanted to observe the students in a resource class. Most of the class enjoy art but some see it as a play time. Overall the children were excited about the winter critters they created
