Monday 9 December Kia ora whanau, What a week of mixed emotions this week is going to be.

From everyone at school we send our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Jean Mullens family and friends on the sad loss of Jean last week. Her passing will leave a huge hole in our school community Jean was such an integral part of what we have become and how we operate. We were blessed to have had such an amazing lady to work with; to teach our children and our staff so much; to laugh and giggle with; and to offer us advice and guidance. Jean will have touched so many Bluff families lives through her teaching and voluntary involvement in many Bluff organisations. Jean was a valued staff member at the Bluff schools she taught at and was well respected by her principal colleagues. Most of all, she truly loved our kids and enjoyed so much watching them succeed and grow. As a mark of respect our school flag is flying at halfmast. Arrangements for Jeans funeral tomorrow: Jeans funeral is at the marae at 11.00 tomorrow. There will be no school tomorrow for children in Kakapo and Weka. To show our respects, we will be singing Jean into and out of the wharenui. We would love as many children as possible from Kereru, Tui, Pukeko and Takahe to come to school at 10.00 tomorrow morning. We will dress them into their kapa haka gear (most of which Jean sewed for us) and walk them down to the marae. We will return to school to change them out of their gear at the conclusion of the service, and at this point, children are their parents responsibility. Please make arrangements for them to be collected or to walk home from school (approx. 12.00). as staff wish to be able to pay their respects to Jean and share time with her family. Classes for 2014: The class your child is in for 2014 and the stationery list will be sent home with their portfolio on Wednesday.
