Topic Sentences Rubric

The rubric evaluates a student exercise on topic sentences and transitions in paragraphs. A good response will have a single, clearly stated topic sentence in bold characters to introduce the main idea of the paragraph. It will also use transition words identified in the Indiana University guidelines in ALL CAPS to connect ideas correctly and maintain grammatical correctness throughout.
