Revised Senior Project Proposal 2
Revised Senior Project Proposal 2
NAME:
Preston Leinenbach
1. Description of Pro ect:
I plan on aiming my project towards my hopeful major in sports communication. I want it to give me a good foundation for when I take my talents to college for it. Specifically, I want my final product to be a play-by-play done by myself. I will be doing play-by-play of basketball games majority and maybe a couple baseball when the season comes around. I will be doing my broadcasting through radio. This project will allow me to do many things. It will help me to receive a background in communication that revolves what I love most: sports. It will allow me to share my passion with multiple people listening in. In other words, I will hopefully be able to take a courageous step in e panding my audience with confidence. In the end, I hope to find out and decide if this is the right path for me to follow in life.
.. Propose* Mentor:
I have asked Tom !enson who is directly involved with the sports communication program at the "niversity of #vansville. $e has been working with the "# sports communication and sports information board for over a decade. $e is in charge of "# live online streaming and production of radio broadcasts of athletic events. $e also steps in to do play-by-play or color
commentary when needed. $e has agreed to become my mentor throughout this project.
/. Tas( Ana#)sis:
The first step in my project is just observing and shadowing "# personnel who already do athletic broadcasts. This includes set-up pregame, broadcasts, and post game. %rom &ovember to the beginning of 'ecember, focus will be primarily on prep work to get me familiar with set-up. This involves learning how to run the sound board and use the e(uipment. )nother part of prep work is finding the best way to organi*e and learn any paper knowledge I will need. I will have to know stats, lineups of both teams, key notes, and other sports information paper knowledge. %rom the end of 'ecember to +anuary, I will begin to start my own broadcasts. )fter my first few are completed, they will be criti(ued to find the good and bad from them. %rom %ebruary to ,arch, I will complete my final product broadcasts with improved aspects from the bad, being better with the good, and making what is hopefully a perfect broadcast. %rom that I should have a presentable play-by-play.
0. Costs 1 Materia#s:
)s far as my knowledge goes, there should not be any costs. #verything should be provided. The only materials needed are the provided technological e(uipment and my suit and tie of course.
2. Co"p#etion Date:
The estimated completion date for my project is ,arch-)pril.
more than a speech in a classroom. I hope to learn that I-m comfortable in my own skin when speaking out to an audience, and I hope to learn if I-m going into the right field.
