John Petrucci: Rock Discipline

In the rock-metal music world has met many guitarists, virtuosos, soulful, famous and many more kinds, but JohnPetrucciis one of the most respected due to his great abilities, licks and improvisations when soloing. He is considered a guitar virtuoso possessing the fastest alternative picking and being one of the fastest shredders being out there. He is an American guitarist who started playing guitar since he was 8 years old, starting with a classical guitar, but he soon quit and restarted his learning process at the age of 12 with practicing session of 6 hours per day. After some years, when being a young man, he met his friends Mike Portnoy, Kevin Moore, and John Myung without knowing they were about to form a successful band: Dream Theater. John Petrucci met his friends when attending to Berkley College of Music. They soon found themselves forming a band which was named Majesty, but then renamed to Dream Theater due to there was another band the name of Majesty. With Charlie Dominichi as lead lead vocalist they recorded their first album, in which John Petrucci showed his great skills on the guitar soloing technique that lead him to record some instructive videos. After some local live performances, he was named the second best metal guitarist by The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists book due to his advanced guitar technique also evidenced on his instructive DVD Rock Discipline. He (as member of the band) gained even more reputation to the fans when the song Pull Me Under was released on radio and then with a video on MTV ranking the top of the most requested songs. Since the single was released, international tours were started as they were famous mostly in Europe despite being an American band. John Petrucci has been in the music career for more than 20 years, so he has had few resting times, but the longest resting time he has ever had was when Dream Theaters drummer departed. His is now touring with the band and a new drummer, Mike Mangini, with plans of releasing more albums.
