How To - Setup Serial Console Connection using PuTTy

Applicable Version: 10.00 onwards


A serial connection can be established between any Cyberoam Appliance and a PC using a console/serial cable (cable having a 9 pin DB supplied with the Cyberoam appliance). PuTTy, an open source SSH and Telnet client, can be used to setup the serial connection. To download PuTTy, click here. To setup a serial console connection between Cyberoam Appliance and a PC, follow the steps given below: 1. Physically connect one end of the serial cable - RJ45 connector (console cable supplied with Cyberoam Appliance) to Console port on the front panel of Cyberoam and the other end to the PCs serial port. 2. Launch PuTTy. Select Connection type as Serial.

3. Go to Connection Serial to configure the Options controlling local serial lines according to table given below: Parameter Serial line to connect to Speed (Baud) Data bits Stop bits Parity Flow control Value COM1 9600 8 1 None None

4. Click Open to establish the connection. Cyberoam CLI login page is displayed.
