education. 'Shridevi Institute of Engineering and Technology' was started under the aegis of

with the mission of imparting the best quality education to all

Hospital, Diagnostic Centre, school and college of Nursing, College
of Physiotherapy, College of Education, Diploma Institute of
Education, college of PU Education, Primary & High schools and
Engineering College in its own buildings with highly qualified staff
and good infrastructure. The Trust is very proud that the students

reality, technical education of the highest order along with the best services must be
available to every one in the society. Though technical education is made available to the
deserved ones with many engineering institutions sprucing up all around, technical
education with quality assured and attributes for the over all evolution of personality is
imparted. Shridevi Institute of Engineering & Technology which we and the students
proudly say is our institute. As a proof of quality education and services, the institution is
awarded the certification ISO 9001-2000. Excellent academic ambience prevails with
endearing environment for studies, training in state of the art laboratories, digital library

We aimed to develop an e-campus which is realized by providing smart cards to students


and staff. The information and services can be accessed through the use of smart cards by
the parents of their wards. We keep the parents continuously informed about the progress
of the students though e-services.

The institution is imparting knowledge to the students by conducting a variety of extensive


training courses from the resourceful persons of reputed organizations which have MOU
with us. These efforts have resulted in providing continuous placements. We have plans to
augment them more for the complete evolution of the students' personality. Yoga,
meditation, sports, cultural and other extra curricular activities are held regularly.

THE CITY-TUMKUR
Tumkur city, a hub of educational institutions has an
excellent study environment with fascinating blend of
urban sophistication and rustic rural delight and is about
70 Km from “IT and BT capital” Bangalore city. Tumkur is
slated to become satellite city of Bangalore and is well
connected by express roads and railways. The Institutions
of the Trust are located on the outskirts of Tumkur city on
Bangalore Pune National Highway No. 4. The institution
is 3 Km & 4 Km from Bus stand & Railway station
respectively.

THE CAMPUS
E-Campus
The Institute is heading towards the concept of e-
campus and has implemented in most of the sections
which will be fully operational from this semester. The
login ID & Password are provided to all stakeholders for
online access. The multi purpose smart cards are
issued which will be instrumental to achieve paperless
office and e-campus. All the students' details are
stored and retrieved through smart cards at strategic
sections like student section, library, accounts and
examination section.

The Class Rooms


The Class rooms are expansive and built to AICTE standards with the comfortable and pleasing furniture.
OHPs and the most modern facilities such as LCD & DLP projectors, teaching aids are available for effective
teaching. CDs, Visual tapes, cassettes are used for effective teaching-learning process.

Faculty
The institute has well experienced and highly qualified faculty in all disciplines. It strives for the
enhancement of academic performance of the students. The management encourages staff for acquiring
higher education by sponsoring them. The faculties undergo summer/winter schools/workshops/training
programs etc. to upgrade themselves. The faculties are actively involved in research and development
activities, consultancy projects, writing of books and paper presentations/publications at national and
international levels.
ACADEMICS
Academic Vigilance
A Separate office of the Academic coordinator, headed by a senior faculty
member, looks after the academic activities with the assistance of two
staff members. The periodic meetings of the faculty are conducted to
review the syllabus coverage, students' attendance report and their
performance in internal assessment tests. Three tests in a semester are
conducted and after each test the progress reports are sent to the parents.
Apart from this, weekly two unit tests are conducted. Students'
counselling is also a part of academic office activities.

Anti Ragging Cell


Anti Ragging squad is formed as per AICTE Norms according to Ragging Act.
It is punishable under Section 23 read with Section 10 (b), (g), (p) and (q) of AICTE Act, 1987, to impose
fine of Rs.25000/- / imprisonment for a period of 6 months / Debarring from the institution.

Academic Excellence
The teaching and learning methodology is given more thrust for improving the quality and quantity
standards of the institute which rightly reflects in the University results. Meritorious students are
awarded with cash prizes and certificates.

Student-Teacher Interaction
Each student of SIET is taken care of for all round development with the most congenial atmosphere.
Each teacher is allocated a batch of students to be taken care of by counselling. The counselling system
adopted has developed a discipline in the ambience and each student is known to the teacher. The
continuous report of students' progress in studies and academic oriented activities is sent to the parents
regularly. This system has developed good harmony and closely knit family bonding.

The college is holding regularly this unique & very fruitful concept of convention of Teachers, Parents,
Students & Management to bring them together & deliberate about their roles in order to achieve a
common goal “To be an innovation Engineer & a responsible citizen”.

Student section
This section deals with smooth conduct of University examinations, distribution of results, preparation
of merit list, etc. Students are assisted in getting scholarships, bus / railways / air concessions. Any
documents or certificates required by the students are issued immediately.

Scholarships
Eligible SC, ST &OBC students can get scholarship from government of India & Karnataka. There are
many other scholarships awarded by different agencies.
FACILITIES
Transport
The Institution is well connected to different
parts of the city by its own buses in which
students and staff commutes everyday from
various parts of Tumkur city.

Hostel & Canteen


The Institute has separate hostel facilities for
strength of 800 boys and 300 girls. The hostels
have excellent boarding facilities on
expenditure sharing basis. Utmost care is
taken to provide hygienic delicious food and
water. Strict discipline is maintained in the
hostel. There are facilities for Indoor games.
The hostels have round the clock generator
facility. The hostel is managed by a teacher
warden. Every inmate is to conduct himself/herself as per rules and regulations of the Institution. A canteen
is situated in the premises of the Institution and sufficient care is taken to see that healthy and wholesome
food is served during working hours.

Power House
A 165 KVA diesel genset as a standby is installed to take care of uninterrupted power supply to the entire
campus.

Seminar Hall
S I E T maintains a well equipped Seminar Hall, which accommodates 200 persons complete with Video
Camera, Slide Projector, LCD, OH P, sound system etc. It proves ideal for place seminars, meetings,
workshops, guest lectures, group use of Audio-Visual material etc.
LIBRARY

College library is endowed with large number of titles and


volumes of reference books, textbooks and handbooks
required for teaching and learning activities. Besides
technical and engineering books, there are good number of
books on management, humanities and literature. It has well
designed stack rooms. The library database is centrally
computerized for accession and renewals with smart cards for
the students and Bar codes for the books for easy, secure and
quick speration. Students can reserve the books though the
OPAC/web OPAC.

It has periodical section, reference section, magazine


section, reprographics facilities, internet connectivity,
scanning facility, book binding facility,
printing, CD viewing etc. Besides this Central
Library, each department has its own Library.
Facility of photocopying and printing is
provided to the students.

BIOTECHNOLOGY
This new and nascent stream of Engineering has thrown lot of
miracles in the field of pharmaceutical, agriculture,
horticulture, immunology, genetics etc. This is the most sought
after branch on par with Information technology, Computer
science and Electronics branches. This stream of engineering is
in huge demand these days.

The Bio Technology branch is given special emphasis at our


institute which is one of the first among the engineering
colleges to offer this branch.

obtained donation of external funding under Rural Innovative Fund scheme of National Bank for Agriculture and
Rural Development (NABARD) and National Horticulture Mission.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
The department has a technical association “Gene Home” to enable the students to achieve extra skills and
expertise by conducting seminars, workshops, research oriented programmes, competitions etc. Industry-
Institute interaction is brought about through a number of industrial- visits, Biotech fairs/exhibitions and
sponsoring students to conferences, workshops etc. The academic excellence of the department is proved by
high percentage of successful students in university examinations.

This popular stream of engineering has unlimited scope and is the rage in
the society. The trend is very bright for a professional and has changed the
face of the society in a small span of time.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
The department has the technical association “C Planet” to quench the thirst of the students to understand
ever expanding field of computer science and engineering. The students participate in the regularly

This branch has stayed at the top of the demand list since its
introduction in engineering. The branch has never seen a downfall

stream. The students after completion of degree course are

The department, through its association 'Dynamech' is conducting

The department is gearing up in a big way to mould the students to face


the harsh and tough competition in the world outside by conducting
Industry Institution interaction through visits to reputed industries.

The Laboratories of all the departments are well equipped with modem
equipments and gadgets and students are assisted by the able and
experienced laboratory assistants with the faculty to help the students
to utilize labs and conduct experiments successfully. Robitics
incubation centre is setup to provide the requisite know-how for building
Robos in association with TRI solutions, IIT, Mumbai.

“Info Sea” is the departmental association of the branch which conducts competitive exams to expand the
students' knowledge base. Students are encouraged to take part in training programmes and workshops
organized by the association by inviting skilled professionals from reputed firms in the field of Information
Engineering.

APPLIED SCIENCES
The career in engineering should always be built on a solid foundation of
Basic Science subjects such as Engineering Physics and Engineering
Chemistry. The concept of Engineering should be with application of
Engineering Mathematics. The elements of Civil Engineering must be
known to all the students of Engineering to become an engineer in the
real sense of the term. These subjects are taught by the most

MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMME (MBA)

managed and this has been recognized as a very vital
component of corporate success. For those students who
have their sights on the management pedestal, this post
graduate degree course will be very useful. With a rich
curriculum that encompasses communication, finance,
operations research, total quality management,
international business, computer application in
management, accountancy, economics, strategic
management, etc, this programme is sure to add strength to
the management aspirants in his career growth.

The MBA programme is started with a vision to develop the

The department of MBA conducts Management fest which is an inter collegiate fest. It also conducts
Management games, Technical quiz on regular basis for training the students. Expert lectures, seminars
etc., by inviting corporate managers are held regularly. Educational tours to get the exposure to
organizations and industries are a part and parcel of activities .There is an effective T&P Cell for
providing placement.
TRAINING & PLACEMENT CELL

The Training & Placement Cell has good infrastructure for conducting
activities like interviews, special lectures, workshops, group discussions
etc. The cell regularly conducts guiding lectures for the students on
competitive exams, interview facing techniques, personality
development etc. The cell promotes industry institute interaction,
organizes industrial training and gets sponsored projects from the
industry. The basic function of the cell is to interact with the Corporate

Soft Skill Development Programme:
The “Soft Skill Development” Programme has been made
compulsory from First year to Final year students to take
care of their communication skills, aptitude
preparations, group discussions and interview skills. The
sessions are spread through out the semesters during all
the four years of their academics. These efforts have
enhanced students' employability, overall development
and yielded considerable increase in placements. An
MOU has been signed with Globarena Technologies,
Hyderabad, who is strategic partner in this programme.

Competitive Examination Cell


To prepare the student to face the different competitive
examination like GATE/UPSC/MPSC /GRE/ TOEFL the
“Competitive Exam Cell” has been established. A separate
Library and reading room has been provided for this purpose.

Paper Presentation Cell


The Paper Presentation cell prepares the students to acquire
skills and methods to present paper effectively in seminars,
project presentations, competitions, etc. The students can
avail the expertise by having lectures from eminent resource
persons from industry and academics. Students are provided
with Traveling Allowance facility to encourage them to present papers in seminars organized at other
institute.

ISTE:
ISTE student chapter was established in 2006.
Various activities like coaching programs for
writing competitive exams and attending Job
Interviews, expert lectures, Soft Skills,
Faculty Development and Personality
Development are being conducted by experts
from industries for the benefit of student
community. State Level ISTE seminar was held
in Nov ember 2008 in witch student of
engineering colleges from all over the state
participated.

The Institution has the membership of professional Societies membership such as -IEEE & CSI also.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Quality Circle
The Institute has accorded ISO 9001-2000 Quality Education System in
a hall mark for Quality Education. Further to sustain and excel in
Quality performance of the Institution. “Student Quality Circle” has
been formed in each class of all the Branches. The QC members are
volunteers who meet regularly to discuss, analyse and come up with
the solutions. Inturn the team leaders of Quality Circles regularly
meet with the Principal for a solution for creating conducive
environment in enhancing academic standards and other related
activities.

Yoga Club
Yoga Club conducts spiritual discourses for practicing
meditation, Pranayam, relaxation technique to
improve memory power and concentration etc.

Adventure Club
This club organizes tours to historic places, trekking,
rappelling, paragliding, valley crossing, wild life
observations, etc.

National Service Scheme


The Institute has started NSS unit to imbibe 'Not me, but you' - NSS
slogan. This unit has 100 volunteers and is headed by programme
officer. The students are motivated and oriented to work towards
social services like literacy awareness, AIDS awareness programmes,
blood donation camp, NCC plantation etc. It also conducts 10 day's
special camp. Participation in NSS makes students socially responsible.
A 10 days special camp is being conducted every year in which student
volunteers have participated zealously with great success.

Cultural Activities
The Institute encourages the students for exploring their hidden artistic talents by providing platforms like
'Sinchana', a cultural forum to provide a space for poetry, paintings, sculptures, written articles, etc. 'Shri-
Utsav' provides a stage for activities like dance, drama, musical orchestra, etc. College organizes “Shri-
Utsav”, the annual cultural and sports festival, a culmination of activities every year. A series of Cultural
Melas will be held in every semester to promote the students flair for Cultural activities.

Movie Club
Technical Films, Feature Films, Scientific
Discovery Clippings, Commercial Movies are
being screened on every Saturday for students
entertainment.
SPORTS

The institution provides an ample opportunity for the students to take part
in all indoor and outdoor sports activities. The Institution has facilities for
playing, Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Foot Ball and Cricket. Inter College
tournaments, Inter Branch matches and athletic meet are some of the
regular activities in the Sports section.

ALUMNAE OF SIET

We see our success in the success of our past students who are nurturing various industries with
high profile. SIET currently has a database of 200 alumni. Knowing about
each other always helps in different ways. SIET arranges different gatherings
such that alumni can share the experience in this fast changing world by
having nostalgic memories of SIET.

Alumni Meet
SIET holds its alumni meet every year on 26 January. All the alumni of the
institute congregate at their alma mater to strengthen their ties and
association by conducting convention for mutual benefit. The first alumni
meet was conducted in the year 2008 and second was held in the year 2009 in
which most of the alumni participated with zeal and devotion towards their alma mater.
