When solving for a variable, it is very important that we show all of our steps.

Dont forget, you want to get the variable on one side of the equation and the numbers on the other side. Also, whatever you do to one side of an equation, you must do the same to the other side. Eg. 10 + 4c = 42 10 10 + 4c = 42 10 4c = 32 4c = 32 4 4 c= 8

(subtract 10 from both sides to get 4c on one side of the equation) (divide both sides by 4 to get c on its own)

Double check to make sure that makes sense: 10 + 4c = 42 10 + 4(8) = 42 10 + 32 = 42 42 = 42 Yes, it works!
