2.094 F E A S F: Inite Lement Nalysis of Olids and Luids

This document contains instructions for homework assignments on finite element analysis of solids and fluids. It includes solving a problem from the textbook and analyzing three structural static problems using a finite element software: a thin beam, a long plate, and a circular plate under a central load, comparing results to analytical solutions.

094 FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF SOLIDS AND FLUIDS

SPRING 2003 Homework 3

Problem 1 (10 points): Exercise 4.8, page 218 of the textbook. Problem 2 (20 points): Consider the structural static problem shown below. a) Assume that a thin beam is modeled, width t= 0.1cm; calculate the response. b) Assume that a very long plate is modeled, width t=100cm; and calculate the response. c) Assume that a circular plate is modeled, radius R=10cm, and calculate the response. In each case, use ADINA with two-dimensional 4-node and 9-node elements, to obtain an accurate solution. Compare your results with an analytical approximate solution.
