Management Information System

This 3 credit hour course introduces students to management information systems. Students will learn how organizations create, manage, and utilize knowledge through information systems to drive innovation, agility, and responsiveness. The course will help students understand the importance of accurate and timely information for organizations and how to use information systems to gain and maintain a competitive advantage. Students will also learn to use Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, to prepare financial statements and perform financial and statistical functions. The course content will cover topics such as the role of information systems, types of systems, database fundamentals, data modeling, telecommunications networks, and using MS Office applications.
