Making Request

This document provides examples of making requests in English using common polite phrases like "Can/could you...", "Do you think you could...", and "I'd be grateful if you could...". It includes sample request dialogues and situations to practice constructing request dialogues using "would" or "could". Specifically, it gives two sample conversations, one at a post office where a pen is borrowed and another where someone's birthday is asked, to demonstrate polite request language. It concludes by listing three situations to generate request dialogues for, such as borrowing a bicycle or camera, or asking someone to tell a ghost story.
