Contents Errors in numerical computation: Error types, analysis and estimation, error propagation. Roots of equations: The bisection method, the false position method, the Newton-Raphson method, The Secant method. System of Linear Algebraic equations: Gauss-Elimination method, Gauss-Jordan method. LU decomposition and matrix inversion. Gauss-Seidal method. Curve fitting: Interpolation- Newtons divided difference, Lagrange Interpolating polynomials, approximation- least square approximation techniques, linear regression and polynomial regression. Numerical differentiation: Methods based on interpolation and finite differences. Solution to ordinary differential equation: Picards method, Eulers method, Modified Eulers method, Predictor-corrector method, Adams-Bashforth method. Optimization: One-dimensional unconstrained- Golden-section search, quadratic interpolation, Newtons method,linear programming graphical solution, simplex method. Numerical Integration: Simpsons 1/3rd rule, Simpsons 3/8th rule

Theory Examination:
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Question paper will comprise of total 7 questions, each of 20 marks. Only 5 questions need to be solved. Q.1 will be compulsory and based on the entire syllabus. Remaining questions will be mixed in nature. In question paper weightage of each module will be proportional to the number of respective lecture hours as mentioned in the syllabus

Term work: Term work consists of minimum eight computer programs and a written test. The distribution of the term work shall be as follows, Laboratory work (Programs and Journal) :10 marks Test (at least one) :10 marks Attendance (Practical and Theory) :05 marks The final certification and acceptance of term-work ensures the satisfactory performance of laboratory work and minimum passing in the term-work.
