Political map

A political map shows human-made things like borders, countries, capitals, and major cities. They can also show roads, railroad tracks, important bodies of water, parks, and many other human-made things

Physical map
Illustrate the physical features of an area, such as the mountains, rivers and lakes. The water is usually shown in blue. Colors are used to show reliefdifferences in land elevations. Green is typically used at lower elevations, and orange or brown indicate higher elevations.

Topographic map
Include contour lines to show the shape and elevation of an area. Lines that are close together indicate steep terrain, and lines that are far apart indicate flat terrain.

Thematic map
A thematic map is a type of map or chart especially designed to show a particular theme connected with a specific Geographic area. These maps "can portray physical, social, political, cultural, economic, sociological, agricultural, or any other aspects of a city, state, region, nation , or continent".
