STR656: Plastic Analysis and Design of Steel Structures Assignment (1) Problem 1:
Calculate the shape factor (f) for the following shapes: A diamond shape with side length (h), Fig. 1.

Problem 2:
Calculate the value of plastic modulus: A T-section, width 100 mm, depth 120 mm, composed of two equal rectangles 100 x 20 mm, bent about the strong axis. The square shaft shown in Fig. 2, 8d x 8d, having a keyway 8d x 8d, bent about the xx axis.

Problem 3:
Determine the location of the plastic neutral axis y and the plastic moment for sections shown in Fig. 3 and 4 if the section has a uniform yield stress of 2.4 t/cm2.
