A seafood company previously operated two 10-hour shifts per day producing 500 wooden boxes. To meet higher demand, the company switched to three 8-hour shifts. This allowed daily production to increase to 650 boxes. The original productivity was 25 boxes per hour over 20 working hours. The new productivity is 27.083 boxes per hour over 24 working hours. This is an 8.3% increase in productivity.

19-Lake Charles Seafood makes 500 wooden packing boxes for fresh seafood per day, working in two

10-hour shifts. Due to higher demand, plant managers have decided to operate three eight-hour shifts instead. The plant is now able to produce 650 boxes per day. Calculate the companys productivity before the change in work rules, and after the change. What is the percentage increase in productivity?
CASE A : Productivity = 500 boxes/20 hours = 25 boxes per hour CASE B : Productivity = 650 boxes/24 hours = 27.083 boxes per hour INCREASE IN PRODUCTIVITY : Productivity CASE B / Productivity CASE A = 1.083 -> 8.3% increase
