VHT Vent Heads: For Safety and Environmental Protection

VHT vent heads are designed to safely discharge dry steam to atmosphere at low velocity. Environmental concerns drive the need for innovative products that save valuable resources whilst achieving reductions in carbon and CO 2 emission. The new VHT has been designed with an internal drain feature to recover valuable condensate that would have otherwise been discharged to an external drain.

VHT vent heads

for safety and environmental protection

Simple, effective vent heads for increased safety and environmental protection
Spirax Sarco VHT vent heads are suitable for vertical open-ended steam vent pipes. The vent head is designed to safely discharge dry steam to atmosphere at low velocity, protecting personnel from injury, buildings from damage and minimising the nuisance of water spray on the surroundings.

How the VHT vent head works

Steam flow entering the vent head is directed over an internal disc and forced into a toroidal vortex, causing entrained water droplets to be flung outwards and 'wetting out' onto the internal surface of the vent head. As these droplets coalesce they are driven towards the internal drain by the downward rotation of the toroidal vortex.

Environmental protection
Environmental concerns drive the need for innovative products that save valuable resources whilst achieving reductions in carbon and CO 2 emission. The new VHT has been designed with an internal drain feature to recover valuable condensate that would have otherwise been discharged to an external drain, with the possibility of hot condensate exceeding temperature limits for ground drainage pipework.

Installation
For sizing and selection and range available see the Technical Information sheet for VHT vent heads. All products ordered will be supplied with a copy of our Installation and Maintenance Instructions to ensure the safe installation and operation of this equipment.

Applications
The new VHT vent heads are ideal for: Blowdown vessels Condensate pump receivers Boiler feedtanks Hot water storage tanks Exhaust vent condensers Also suitable for all other similar venting applications where there is a need to separate water from exhaust steam flow.

User benefits
Efficient separation minimises moisture carryover. Recovery of condensate separated from steam. Stainless steel body for long life. Internal drain, no external pipework required. No moving parts, minimal maintenance. Lightweight for easy installation.

Typical applications

Blowdown vessel
