Evaluation:
homework: 30% mid-term exam: 30% nal exam: 40%

Homework: Homework consists of selected problems handed out in class. Discussion with other students is encouraged but you are expected to turn in your own individual work. In order to get full credit you need to make sure you turn in neat reports where your solutions are clearly developed. Late homework will not be accepted.

The choice of topics to be covered will be partly based on your background and interests. I will choose from the following: Complex analysis (we will spend a good portion of the rst half of the semester on this) Linear algebra (vector spaces, linear operators, ...) Fourier Series and Integral Group Theory Dierential equations Greens Functions Path integral ...
