ASSIGNMENT NO. 1 (VARIABLE LOAD) SET B 1. A power station has a maximum demand of 15 MW, a load factor of 0.

.7, a plant capacity factor of 0.525 and a plant use factor of 0.85. Find: (i) The daily energy produced. (ii) The reserve capacity of the (iii) The maximum energy that could be produced daily if the plant operating schedule is fully loaded when in operation. 2. A central station has annual factors as follows: Load 58.5%, capacity 40.9%, use 45.2%. The reserve carried over and above the peak load is 8900 kw. Find (a) installed capacity, (b) annual energy production, (c) hr per year not in service. 3. If the operation factor of a unit is 78% and the output factor is 49%, what is the capacity factor? 4. An electrical feeder line serves four distribution transformers which have the following connected loads. No. 1 Residence 10 kw Residence 20 kw Residence 25 kw No. 2 Residence 20 kw Residence 25 kw Residence 28 kw Commercial 35 kw No. 3 Commercial 15 kw Commercial 5 kw Power 4 kw Commercial 15 kw Commercial 25 kw No. 4 Power 32 kw Residence 24 kw Residence 35 kw Residence 18 kw

Using tabulated factors, find peak load on the feeder. (Reference PPE by Morse) 5. A daily load curve is defined as follows: Time Load, kw 12 140 2 150 4 160 6 180 8 170 10 170 12 170 2 160 4 240 6 365 8 320 10 220 12 160

Plot the load curve to scales of 1 cm = 2 hr, 1 cm = 50 kw. Determine the load factor and energy produced.
