A Thing of Beauty

A thing of beauty provides constant joy and never fades, acting as a source of shelter, pleasant dreams, health, and peace. While humans possess evil qualities, a beautiful thing helps remove gloom from our lives and makes us love life despite sadness. Keats argues that an appreciation of beauty through nature, legends of past great people, and lovely tales provides profound happiness and joy that flows endlessly from nature's immortal fountain.

Beauty, hencedoes not lead to inertia but a constant battle to guard our nature/earth.Lines 6-13As a result of this every morning we are weaving a flowery wreath to bind us to the beauties o f the earthdespite the sadness and the feeling of depression. We all possess evi l qualities of hatred anddisappointed. We suffer from lack of noble qualities an d unhealthy evil ways. In spite of all this abeautiful thing helps to remove the cover of gloom or darkness from our lives. It makes us love lifedespite the thi ngs that make us sad and dampen our spirits.Keats defies the accusation that his belief in the immortality of beautiful things i.e. sentimental.Lines 14-20The s un, the moon, trees old and young are all sources of happiness for us. The trees sprout and spreadtheir branches to provide shelter within their green covering (shade) for the simple sheep (humans). TheDaffodils bloom within the green surro undings in which they grow. The clear and small streams of watermake a cooling s helter for themselves against the hot season. The thick mass of ferns looks gran d withtheir beautiful musk roses.Lines 21-25The mighty dead people whose achieve ments made them great and powerful inspire us through theirsagas of their noble works. Their legends and stories enthuse us and we imagine their magnificence. A beautiful thing is also a source of joy just as the lovely tales we have heard o r read give us profound happiness. A fountain of immortality pours its sacred and immortal drink into th e heart and soul of man. This immortal drink gushing out from nature s endless fountain is a source of imme nse joy for us.
