PREREQUISITE: 21:640:119 (Basic Calculus), or 21:640:135 (Calculus I), or 21:640:155 (Honors Calculus I), or permission of instructor TEXTBOOK: " Probability & Statistics for Engineers & Scientists, (8th edition), by Walpole, Myers, Myers & Ye, published by Prentice Hall. Discrete probability distributions: uniform, binomial, multinomial, hypergeometric, negative binomial, geometric, Poisson distributions Chapter 4:
Continuous probability distributions: uniform, normal, gamma, exponential, _2 distributions
Chapter 5: Sampling: random sampling, sampling distributions of means and variances, t distribution, F distribution Chapter 6: Estimation: one- and two-sample estimations of means and proportions, and their differences Chapter 7: Hypothesis testing: introduction to statistical inference, one and two-tailed tests, P values, specific tests for comparing means and proportions
