Variant Configuration

There are four types of dependencies that can exist in a variant configuration: preconditions, select conditions, procedures, and constraints. Preconditions determine if a characteristic or object can be included, select conditions mandate if an object must be included, procedures set characteristic values or modify objects if another object is included, and constraints describe interdependencies between multiple objects in a configuration.
