Approach To Writing in Esl Context

The document discusses two approaches to writing in ESL contexts: the product approach and the process approach. The product approach focuses on teaching students text forms and structures by providing models for them to imitate. It emphasizes correct grammar, syntax, and organization. The process approach focuses on how students develop and organize their ideas through drafting and revision. It does not focus as much on mechanical correctness. The product approach involves students reading model texts, practicing specific features in isolation, organizing their ideas within a given framework, and then producing a text using the skills and structures taught.
