She knew that her parents were giving her the Raleigh that she had been eyeing for some time. It was beautiful lightweight bicycle and she could hardly wait for her older brother, Lenard, to teach her how to ride it. Lenard was very patient when Laura fell off the bicycle many times. Laura was a bit too short for the bicycle and simply could not balance herself. Dont worry, Laura, it took some time before I could ride a bike. I nearly gave up but Dad told me that it would take some time to steady myself. Once I got the hang of that, the cycling bit itself was easy, Lenard told Laura. Everyday after school, Laura tried balancing herself on her new bicycle but she was still unsteady despite practicing hard. It seemed that it would take her a long time before she could show off her bike to her friends in the neighbourhood. After two weeks, Laura felt she was ready. Yes, there were times she fell off but most of the time, she could ride around the compound quite steadily. She decided to cycle out but unfortunately as she left the compound and turned, she went straight into the drain. It was obvious that she had not practiced hard enough.
