Ecarp

The Every-Child-A-Reader Program is a priority literacy program of the Philippine Department of Education that aims to achieve zero non-readers by 2005. To achieve this, elementary schools implement the Joint Education Reading Recovery for the Youth project, intermediate and high schools use the Drop Everything and Read program, and other schools use remedial interventions. In 2006-2007, the Joint Education Reading Recovery for the Youth project was piloted in two schools in Iloilo City.

Every-Child-A-Reader Program (ECARP) is a priority program of the Department of Education and particularly of this Division as articulated by DepEd Memo

No. 402, s. 2004 and Administrative Order No. 324: mandating all concerned Government Agencies and Local Government Units to adopt the Literacy Coordinating Council Blueprint for action as framework programs or projects related to literacy. Under ECARP, this Division targets Zero NR-09 effective SY 2005. and with such goal the elementary/ primary schools have Project Joint Education Reading Recovery for the Youth (JERRY). Intermediate to highschool implement Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) and other schools initiate remedial interventions. Effective SY 20062007, JERRY was implemented in to pilot schools, Iloilo City NHS and Jaro NHS.
